Jigawa NSCDC Detains Scrap Dealer Over Vandalized Electric Cables

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa has taken a suspected scrap dealer into custody for possessing stolen electrical cables. The suspect, Muhd Adamu, was apprehended alongside ongoing efforts to locate his accomplices.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State has apprehended an individual suspected of being involved in the illegal possession of stolen electrical cables.

ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, the Public Relations Officer for the command, made this announcement in a statement released on Monday, March 9, 2026.

The suspect, identified as Muhd Adamu, a 50-year-old resident of Maruwa town within the Kafin Hausa Local Government Area, was detained on Wednesday, March 4 around 3:00 PM.

During the operation, NSCDC officials seized approximately 267 metres of aluminum cable, estimated to be worth about N573,300.

According to initial investigations, it was revealed that the cables were allegedly brought to Adamu’s residence for safekeeping by two accomplices, who have been identified as Sani and Auwalu, both from Ruba village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area and are currently evading capture.

Adamu has been placed in custody while the NSCDC intensifies efforts to apprehend the absconding accomplices and hold them accountable for their actions.

In response to this incident, the State Commandant of the NSCDC warned individuals engaged in the vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure to cease such unlawful activities or face stern legal repercussions.

Furthermore, the Commandant encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to public infrastructure to relevant security bodies throughout Jigawa State.

The NSCDC reassures the community of its unwavering commitment to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as ensuring the safety and security of all lives and property within the state.
