Kinsmen of former President Goodluck Jonathan, hailing from the Ogbia local government area in Bayelsa State, have pledged their steadfast allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They emphasized that the party has been instrumental in their political achievements, which includes providing the presidency of Nigeria.

This declaration comes shortly after Senator Seriake Dickson, a former governor of Bayelsa State, announced his departure from the PDP to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Following the successful completion of local government congresses in the state's eight local government areas, Barr. Alabh George Turnah, the Acting Chairman and Zonal Secretary of the PDP in Bayelsa State, expressed appreciation for the peaceful conduct of the congresses across all regions.

He stated that the high level of participation reflects the PDP's robust presence in the localities, highlighting its crucial role in the political evolution of Ogbia, which the residents hold in high regard.

Turnah remarked, “This party has provided Ogbia LGA with all that we could ever desire in our political journey. The PDP has given us a deputy governor, acting governor, a governor, a vice president, an acting president, and finally, the presidency of Nigeria.

“We will steadfastly support the PDP; we are appreciative of what it has done, and my message to the people of Ogbia LGA and all of Bayelsa is to maintain our faith in this party and remain hopeful for better days ahead,” he added.

He noted that the turnout and the peaceful, organized nature of the congress portray the party’s growing influence and unity within the community.

The congress, which took place simultaneously across the various local government headquarters, drew a significant number of party delegates from all 105 wards in Bayelsa State.

He further encouraged unity and faith, asserting, “As a community, we must keep our faith in God and remain optimistic, for brighter days await us. The PDP is synonymous with Bayelsa, and the grassroots support for the party is genuine.”

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), highlighting that the electoral body oversaw the congress in accordance with necessary regulations.

Turnah commended the dedication of party delegates who traveled from all corners of the state to participate in the congress, underscoring their commitment.

Finally, he congratulated those elected during the congress across the various local government areas, urging them to uphold the principles and goals of the PDP.
