The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently pursuing a 16-count indictment against Malami, focusing on allegations related to money laundering.

In December 2025, the EFCC tracked down 41 properties estimated to be worth N212 billion, linked to Malami during an investigation into his tenure in office.

These assets comprise various holdings including hotels, residential estates, land parcels, educational institutions, and a printing company, which are situated in Kebbi, Kano, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
