Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Rivers State by extending its support to local schools and students through various initiatives, including sports sponsorship, educational excursions, and community development projects.
At the Community Primary School in Ogbunabali, Port Harcourt, the company funded the school's annual inter-house sports competition, supplying trophies for the winners along with canopies and other necessary logistics to facilitate a successful event.
During the occasion, Hon. Chike, the company's Community Liaison Officer, urged students to cultivate focus and discipline from an early age, reaffirming the company's dedication to supporting both their academic and physical growth.
In another related initiative, Julius Berger welcomed Senior Secondary students from Bloombreed Schools in Port Harcourt for an educational visit to its Regional Office on the Eastern Bypass.
The visit commenced with a safety induction led by Tim Oseghe, the Regional HSE/CSR Manager, followed by technical sessions designed to broaden the students' career outlook.
A key attraction of the visit was a guided tour of the firm's facilities, during which experts from various departments presented operational processes and shared valuable insights into engineering and safety practices.
Earlier in February, Julius Berger also sponsored joint inter-house sports competitions for multiple schools throughout the state. At one of the events, Gabriel Ubani, the Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board, encouraged students to balance their academic pursuits with sports to enhance future opportunities.
Furthermore, during an event at Model Primary School in Nkpogwu, company representatives stressed the significance of nurturing holistic child development and encouraged pupils to adopt positive lifestyles.
Oseghe described these initiatives as strategic investments in the future generation, emphasizing that the company seeks to enhance the overall welfare of the students.
In addition to education and sports, Julius Berger has also provided support to orphanages with food and relief supplies, offered vocational training for girls, and launched programs aimed at strengthening community resilience.
The company highlighted that its CSR activities reflect a broader commitment to transforming lives and empowering communities beyond its core engineering functions.
