Luciano Spalletti, the head coach of Juventus, has indicated that his team will implement specific strategies to contain the threat posed by Victor Osimhen in their upcoming UEFA Champions League playoff clash against Galatasaray.
The teams are set to face each other in the first leg on Tuesday night at RAMS Park, with Osimhen anticipated to lead the attack for the Turkish side.
The Nigerian striker has been in extraordinary form, having netted six goals across six appearances in this season's Champions League. His fellow forward, Mauro Icardi, is also considered a significant threat after scoring a hat- trick in Galatasaray’s recent 4-0 win over Eyüpspor under coach Okan Buruk.
Spalletti recognizes the risks associated with both players and emphasized the importance of disrupting their service.
“Osimhen and Icardi are both exceptional talents, albeit with different strengths. Their combination on the field can create considerable challenges for any defense,” he remarked during the pre-match press briefing.
“As strikers, they have a strong understanding of their roles — one disrupts the defense while the other takes advantage of the created spaces.
“They are highly skilled, and our goal is to limit their access to the ball as much as we can. The overall strength of Galatasaray poses a complex challenge for us.”
