The Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU), Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, announced that the Kafanchan campus has recently secured a grant of N1 billion from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
During a discussion with journalists on Thursday, Professor Musa expressed pride in the campus, highlighting that it stood out as the sole university to receive this competitive grant due to its exceptional facilities and agricultural financial strategy.
He went on to explain that the grant was awarded because of the existing infrastructure at the Kafanchan campus, noting that this recognition enhances the university's reputation within academic circles.
Professor Musa also acknowledged that while the campus encounters challenges typical of many tertiary institutions in Nigeria, it would be incorrect to claim that the Kafanchan campus has been neglected.
He remarked that education received a significant allocation of 25% from the N985.9 billion budget for 2026, adding that the infrastructure issues across all KASU campuses will be addressed.
“The top priority of Governor Uba Sani is education, as his administration recognizes that knowledge is a vital tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and ensuring the future of our children,” he stated.
Professor Musa highlighted the Governor's commitment to education, referencing the first Executive Order which cut tuition fees in all state-owned tertiary institutions by 50%.
He noted that this reduction in fees has led to an increase in student enrollment at both Kaduna State University and other state institutions like Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic and the College of Education Gidan Waya.
The Vice Chancellor mentioned that new courses have been introduced at state- owned tertiary institutions, having successfully undergone resource verification by the appropriate regulatory authorities.
He recalled that many courses at KASU, which were previously unaccredited, have now received accreditation from the National University Commission (NUC).
Finally, he noted that earlier this week, KASU was recognized as West Africa's most outstanding institutional partner for Climate Smart Agriculture.
