Alhassan Doguwa, a member of the House of Representatives for Tudun Wada/Doguwa Federal Constituency, has acknowledged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State is currently confronting internal difficulties as the 2027 general elections approach.
Speaking to party supporters in Kano, Doguwa indicated that despite outward appearances of unity, the party faces substantial internal matters that necessitate immediate attention.
“To be clear, there are pressing issues that demand swift action,” he stated, emphasizing that ignoring these internal struggles within the Kano APC would be a miscalculation.
“There is a problem, and it is our responsibility to resolve it. I highlight this not out of arrogance, but because I recall a similar situation where collective action helped us overcome the challenge, turning it into a past concern,” Doguwa explained.
The lawmaker underscored the importance of recognizing the existing problems as the first step toward their resolution and the party's strategic positioning for electoral success.
“Anyone who denies the presence of a problem within the APC in Kano, and fails to outline a strategy to address it, is likely not prepared for election victory,” he asserted.
Doguwa also shared that during a recent meeting with the state governor, Abba Yusuf, assurances were provided regarding the administration's commitment to supporting party members.
“In our latest meeting with the state governor, he reassured us of his commitment to fulfilling his obligations by supporting party faithful through empowerment schemes and various other initiatives that are yet to be revealed,” Doguwa commented.
These remarks follow a meeting involving Kano South lawmakers and stakeholders, led by Kawu Sumaila, in Abuja. During that gathering, concerns were raised concerning the political direction of the zone and alleged marginalization by the state government.
As part of ongoing efforts to foster reconciliation within the Kano APC, Governor Abba Yusuf and former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, reportedly met in Abuja to mediate disputes that could potentially impact the party's performance in the 2027 elections.
