The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State has strongly denounced the recent surge in banditry across several communities, labelling the loss of lives among security forces and civilians as alarming and unacceptable.

State Chairman of the ADC, Lawal Tukur-Batagarawa, conveyed the party's position during a press briefing in Katsina, expressing significant concern over the renewed violence impacting the state.

He highlighted that the recent incidents, concentrated in the Matazu and Musawa local government areas, underscore a deteriorating security landscape that demands immediate and decisive action.

Tukur-Batagarawa stated that the attacks resulted in numerous casualties, including police officers and residents, and caused substantial damage to homes and properties.

The ADC chairman lamented that the renewed violence occurred despite reports of peace accords previously reached in some affected areas, questioning the efficacy and durability of such agreements.

He further attributed the persistent insecurity to perceived leadership deficiencies and the failure of responsible authorities to provide adequate protection for the populace.

"Ensuring the safety of lives and property is the paramount duty of any government, and this responsibility must not be neglected," he emphasized.

The party also extended its sympathies to the families of those affected and the communities enduring the ongoing violence, noting the fear and uncertainty these attacks have generated.

The ADC urged the government and security agencies to implement more proactive and robust strategies to tackle the prevailing security challenges and re- establish lasting peace throughout Katsina State.
