The animated film Kpop Demon Hunters has achieved remarkable success, taking home two prominent awards at the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song.

Since its release last year, this Netflix blockbuster has combined supernatural themes with the K-pop phenomenon, winning the hearts of audiences across the globe. The film's anthem, Golden, has topped various international music charts and is recognized as one of the most memorable songs from its soundtrack.

During the awards ceremony, the fictional girl group Huntr/x Ejae, represented by singers Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna, delivered a captivating performance of the song to an audience that lit up the venue with their light sticks—a hallmark of K-pop shows.

A tearful Ejae expressed her gratitude while accepting the award for Best Original Song, sharing her pride in the recognition of K-pop worldwide.

"As a young person, I was teased for my love of K-pop. Now, it's incredible to see everyone singing our song and embracing the Korean lyrics; I’m immensely proud," she stated.

The award for Best Animated Feature Film was collected by directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, along with producer Michelle LM Wong.

Kang, who received her first Oscar nomination, described the achievement as significant for Korean representation within the animation sector globally.

"This recognition is for Korea and for all Koreans everywhere," she remarked. "I apologize that it took so long for us to see ourselves represented in a film like this."

The narrative follows a K-pop girl group that harnesses their musical talent to combat supernatural threats, including a rival boy band from the underworld called Saja Boys, whose mesmerizing songs captivate souls.

The film's soundtrack includes several chart-topping hits such as Soda Pop, performed by the fictional adversarial group.

Ejae, Rei Ami, and Audrey Nuna showcased their style at the Oscars, wearing stunning gold gowns as a tribute to their song Golden.

The Oscars wins add to the film's growing list of honors, having previously achieved top awards at the Golden Globe Awards for both Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

Earlier this year, Golden made history at the Grammy Awards by becoming the first K-pop song to secure a Grammy win.
