A staff member at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, identified as Frank Omorojie, has demonstrated exemplary honesty by returning a lost purse containing significant cash and crucial travel documents to its owner. The discovery and subsequent return took place in the departure hall of Terminal 2.

Omorojie found the misplaced purse on Wednesday, April 29, near the Rwanda Air check-in counter. Inside the purse were $1,700 in cash, both a Nigerian and a British passport, and a credit card.

Without delay, Omorojie handed the found item over to the Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel. Following established airport protocols, the recovered belongings were officially logged and then transferred to the Customer Service department. The unit promptly initiated a public announcement to help locate the owner.

A Nigerian passenger, who was due to travel to Kigali, Rwanda, and had resigned herself to the permanent loss of her possessions, was subsequently reunited with everything intact. Airport authorities lauded Omorojie for his integrity and professionalism, highlighting the event as a testament to the trust passengers can place in airport operations and staff conduct.

Speaking on his actions, Omorojie stated that his decision was guided by fundamental principles of honesty, simply saying, “I just did what was right.”
