Sales have significantly increased at the "Gathering on 100" event in Lagos as the 100-hour continuous social experience draws near its end.

The event, targeted at young people, commenced on Wednesday, April 22, and is scheduled to conclude on Sunday at the National Stadium in Surulere. It has attracted thousands of young attendees daily, offering a blend of entertainment, networking, and commercial opportunities.

Vendors and content creators participating in the event have indicated a rise in customer interest and sales, attributing this to enhanced exposure and robust engagement with attendees.

Urchez, a visual artist and tattooist, shared that the event has substantially amplified the reach of his artistic endeavors. He mentioned completing over 40 tattoos in the initial two days, with his speed flash tattoos starting at approximately N10,000 for simpler designs.

"This event has brought a lot of people, and I've connected with numerous new individuals, which is incredibly valuable," Urchez stated.

Amma Hubert, proprietor of Amma Juice, described her experience as positive, particularly regarding networking opportunities. Despite it being her first time at the event, she reported satisfactory sales and emphasized the value of connecting with fellow vendors and potential clients.

"I've met several new people who show genuine interest in the brand. Overall, it's been quite good," she commented.

Ronke George, Master Brand Manager at MTN Nigeria, explained that the event was conceptualized to merge digital interaction with physical engagement among the youth. She noted that organizers initially cultivated an online community before transitioning to a physical gathering.

According to George, over 8,000 individuals registered for the Lagos edition, with daily visitor numbers ranging between 3,000 and 4,000.

Matthias Kupoli, one of the event's organizers, stated that the initiative was designed to create a secure and collaborative environment for young individuals.

"Our aim is to foster community for the next generation of adults and leaders in this country," Kupoli said.

He further elaborated, "We view ourselves not just as individuals, but as a community, a collective of thinkers and builders working together."

Kupoli added that the platform facilitates both online interaction and face- to-face connections, encouraging participants to expand their social networks.

He indicated that the event has seen substantial interest, with pre-event registrations reaching as high as 18,000. Attendance has reportedly grown daily, including on weekdays, with some attendees choosing to stay overnight to engage in activities such as gaming and networking.

Kupoli also mentioned that vendors were provided with complimentary stalls and encouraged to offer their services at reduced prices or for free, aiming to minimize participation barriers and enhance community involvement.
