The judge imposed the sentence after Goni faced charges including criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

The indictment detailed that Gambo Goni, along with four accomplices who are currently at large, attacked the residences of Alhaji Lawan Suleiman, Alhaji Musa B. Umaru, Munir M.G., and Alhaji Ahmed Saibaru Shuaibu in Kofare, Yola South Local Government Area, armed with weapons on October 4, 2014, stealing cash, mobile phones, and other personal items.

While pronouncing the judgment, Justice Kaynson Lawanson stated that the prosecution had successfully shown its case beyond a reasonable doubt leading to the conviction of Goni.

He articulated, “I hereby sentence you to death by hanging or by lethal injection until confirmed dead; I pray God to have mercy on your soul.”
