Manchester City claimed victory over Arsenal with a score of 2-0 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, securing the Carabao Cup and ending Arsenal's quest for a historic quadruple.
Nico O’Reilly stood out as the star player for City, netting two goals in the second half, which ensured that Pep Guardiola's team lifted the trophy and denied Mikel Arteta's squad their first League Cup title since 1993.
City started with goalkeeper James Trafford and a formidable lineup that included Erling Haaland, aiming to break their three-match winless streak against an Arsenal team that had been unbeaten in their last 12 games across all competitions.
The first half was intensely competitive, but City began to assert their dominance after the break, with Arsenal's goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga unfortunately contributing to both goals.
O’Reilly opened the scoring in the 60th minute, taking advantage of a dropped cross by Arrizabalaga to make it 1-0. Just four minutes later, he doubled City's lead with a well-placed shot following a cross from Matheus Nunes, cementing the victory for City.
Guardiola celebrated exuberantly on the sidelines as his team secured their ninth Carabao Cup title, extending his personal unbeaten record in final matches of this competition to five wins.
