A Nigerian makeup artist, who is a friend to Mayowa Lambe, the ex-wife of media personality Roby Ekpo, has stepped forward to support Mayowa amid the ongoing public dispute following their separation. Roby Ekpo had previously shared his perspective, suggesting he was unaware the marriage had concluded and continued to send Mayowa financial support, unaware she was involved with someone else.
However, Jennifer, the friend speaking out, has countered these assertions. She stated in a social media post that Roby was well aware that his marriage to Mayowa had ended some time ago. Jennifer clarified that the funds Roby had been sending were not out of ignorance but were contributions towards an "Ajo" savings scheme and were primarily for paying their rent, a practice that had been in place since 2018.
Furthermore, Jennifer addressed a WhatsApp message Roby presented during his interview, claiming it was sent to another friend in 2017 and was not concealed from Roby. According to Jennifer, the individual Mayowa was conversing with became concerned about the marriage's stability, which led to Mayowa's family being alerted. A family meeting was subsequently called, with Roby in attendance.
Contrary to Roby's narrative of Mayowa pursuing him, Jennifer alleged that Roby initiated contact by liking Mayowa's social media posts before sending her his contact details. Jennifer also claimed that Mayowa was the one who financed their home rent and sponsored Roby's travel from Calabar to Lagos so he could live with her.
Jennifer asserted that both families were fully apprised of the dissolution of their traditional union. She also made a claim that Roby Ekpo is currently dealing with Hepatitis B.
Jennifer shared several screenshots along with her statement, intended to substantiate her claims regarding the ongoing marital dispute.
