Three months after his release from prison, actor Olanrewaju “Baba Ijesha” James has finally shared his side of the story. The actor, who served three years of a 16-year sentence for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl, has come forth with a song titled ‘Eniwaye Dáràn’ to narrate his experience behind bars and revisit the circumstances that led to his conviction.

On November 15, 2025, PREMIUM TIMES reported that Baba Ijesha was released after serving a portion of his sentence, which he received from the Ikeja Special Offences Court in July 2022. His trial, which lasted over a year, concluded with Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo delivering the verdict.

In his newly released music video for ‘Eniwaye Dáràn,’ posted on his YouTube channel on Thursday, Baba Ijesha recounted the details that culminated in his imprisonment, including the traumatic experiences he faced while incarcerated.

He expressed allegations against actress and comedienne Damilola “Princess Comedian” Adekoya, claiming she manipulated the situation leading to his wrongful conviction.

In the song, Baba Ijesha reflects on his harrowing experience: “I was sent to Kirikiri by a woman. Many innocent individuals have suffered. I was misled by trust but ultimately betrayed. I endured unimaginable suffering at the hands of this 'She Devil.' She wished for my silence and plotted against me. This is my truth; please pay attention.”

He narrated an incident on April 21, 2021, when he received an emergency call from Adekoya, inviting him to a gathering where she supposedly prepared his favorite dish. Unbeknownst to him, it was a setup that ended with his arrest. He described her suggestion to act in a new production without suspecting that it was a ruse to implicate him.

Baba Ijesha referred to Adekoya as the “She Devil” in his lyrics, elaborating on how he arrived to find her preparing food while others were present.

“Upon arrival, she mentioned that her preparations were incomplete and she was feeling exhausted. I thanked her and inquired if I was late because there were others around. She claimed she wanted me to be viewed differently by the public,” he said.

He continued, “We began rehearsals, being aware of my passion for acting, but it became evident that it was all a deceptive plan. She aimed to exploit my fame to regain her relevance. It’s frustrating that those guilty walk free while an innocent man suffers.”

Baba Ijesha advised fans and the public to remain vigilant when interacting with long-lost acquaintances, highlighting that deceptive intentions can lie beneath familiar connections. He alleged that Adekoya sought his assistance to refresh her dilapidating fame as part of the manipulation leading to his imprisonment.

The actor warned, “When reconnecting with friends after many years, exercise caution; the person you remember may have changed drastically to become someone manipulative. Learn from my mistakes.”

In a follow-up to his story, it was reported that the Lagos State Government included Baba Ijesha on the sex offenders register following his release, affirming that he remains guilty of sex-related offences despite serving his term. This decision was made based on the recommendations outlined under Section 37 of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law 2021, after a petition from Adekoya to register his name.
