Nasarawa Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper, Seize AK-47

The Police in Nasarawa State have arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as Sale Hassan, suspected of kidnapping. Authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle and live ammunition during the arrest in the Awe Local Government Area.

The Police Command in Nasarawa State has apprehended 32-year-old Sale Hassan of Rugan Hassan, located in the Adudu community of Awe Local Government Area, on suspicion of kidnapping. During the arrest, operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle from him.

SP Ramhan Nansel, the command's Public Relations Officer, indicated that the arrest was made after the police received reliable intelligence regarding the suspect's activities.

Nansel explained that the police acted swiftly on the information received, leading to the suspect's capture at the scene.

On March 20, 2026, at approximately 5 PM, the command was informed by the Unit Commander of the 38 PMF Akwanga that a suspected kidnapper was seen armed in the vicinity.

Promptly responding to this report, a team of Mobile Police officers was deployed, which resulted in the successful arrest of Sale Hassan. Alongside the rifle, officers also confiscated four rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition from the suspect.

The police spokesperson further noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, reiterated the command's dedication to protecting lives and property and encouraged members of the community to provide timely and accurate information to facilitate security efforts.
