The recently opened Irele Tower, situated in the Lagos Free Trade Zone, represents a significant addition to the commercial real estate landscape in the Lekki area, boosting office capacity amidst increasing investment in the corridor. The development places a strong emphasis on sustainability and operational efficiency.
The nine-storey structure provides around 12,000 square metres dedicated to office and retail use. This expansion is poised to cater to the escalating demand from both domestic and international companies looking for strategic locations near Lagos's vital port, logistics, and industrial hubs.
Certified by the International Finance Corporation's EDGE standards, Irele Tower incorporates systems designed for efficient resource use, aiming to reduce operational expenses and minimise its ecological footprint. The building is engineered to consume approximately 26% less energy and 46% less water compared to conventional structures, while also ensuring a superior indoor environmental quality for its occupants.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the project aligns with the state's strategic focus on infrastructure-driven growth and its objective to solidify Lagos as a leading investment hub.
Yemisi Edun, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), stated that the bank's early commitment to the project reflects its confidence in the zone's long-term viability. She further noted that Irele Tower exemplifies the positive outcomes of collaborative financing and development, and that FCMB is well-prepared to support future expansion following its recapitalisation.
Adesuwa Ladoja, Managing Director of Lagos Free Zone Company, commented that the new tower embodies the zone's ambition to foster an integrated business environment, leveraging its robust infrastructure, prime location, and logistical advantages.
She observed that there has been a noticeable rise in the demand for high- quality, efficient office spaces, coinciding with increased investor interest in the Lekki region, which underscores the importance of developments like Irele Tower.
