New Vice Chancellor Appointed for Benue State University

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has announced the appointment of Prof. Timothy Terseer Alabar as the new Vice Chancellor of Father Adasu University in Makurdi. The decision comes following due processes undertaken by the university's governing body.

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has confirmed the appointment of Prof. Timothy Terseer Alabar as the new Vice Chancellor of the state-run Father Adasu University, Makurdi (FAUM) on Tuesday.

This decision was made after following the appropriate procedures established by the university's governing council and other relevant authorities.

According to a statement from the governor's spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, the appointment is effective immediately.

Prof. Alabar, hailing from Ukum Local Government Area, is the current Dean of the Postgraduate School at FAUM.

The new Vice Chancellor is a Professor of Marketing and has been with Father Adasu University since 1999, during which time he has held various significant positions. These have included Dean of the Faculty of Administration & Management, Acting Vice-Chancellor, and Acting Chairman of the Consultancy Services Directorate, among others.

Governor Alia, in extending his congratulations to Prof. Alabar, emphasized the importance of providing ethical, inclusive leadership that fosters academic excellence. He encouraged the Vice Chancellor to pursue innovative research initiatives while also nurturing character and competence among students.

The governor urged him to safeguard the university's autonomy and integrity, promote meritocracy, creativity, accountability, and ensure effective management of both human and material resources.
