The federal government has sanctioned an updated schedule for Duty Tour, Estacode, and other associated allowances designated for federal civil servants serving across grade levels 1 through 17. These revised allowances are slated to be implemented starting October 1 of this year.
A circular issued on April 23, 2026, bearing the signature of Mr. Ekpo U.O. Ntah, Chairman of the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC), outlines the government's approval for the review of several allowances, including Duty Tour, Teaching allowances, local running allowance, Estacode allowance, and disengagement allowance.
The directive, which carries the title "Review of Duty Tour, Estacode and others allowances in the Federal Public Service Rules (2021 edition) for officers on grade levels 1-17", states that "in line with the provisions of Rule 140101(b), of the Federal Public Service Rules (2021 edition), the commission hereby conveys the approval for the review of the following allowances in the public service rules (2022) as listed in Annex 1 for officers in grade levels 1-17 and (their equivalent) in the federal public service."
Under the new rates, public officials in grade levels 16-17 will be entitled to N109,000 as their Duty Tour allowance. Officers on grade levels 14-15 are designated to receive N73,000, while those in grade levels 12-13 will be allocated N60,000. For employees in grade levels 7-10, the allowance is set at N51,000.
Additionally, public servants on grade levels 5-6 will receive N45,000 as their Duty Tour allowance, with those in grade levels 1-4 receiving N30,000.
Regarding estacode payments, Permanent Secretaries are to receive $1,040. Public officers occupying grade levels 15-17 will be entitled to $737, those on grade levels 7-14 will receive $666, and officers in grade levels 1-6 will be paid $357.
The adjustments encompass various categories of allowances applicable across all sectors within the federal public service. (The last two paragraphs from the original source are not related to the main article content and have been omitted).
