A video circulating widely on social media has captured public attention and sparked considerable debate regarding the convoy of the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Olumode Adeyemi, in his home state of Kogi.
The viral footage depicts a substantial motorcade, comprising FFS-branded red emergency vehicles, including pickup trucks, SUVs, escort motorcycles, support vans, and dark-coloured SUVs, navigating both highways and local routes.
The video also shows security personnel in black suits and red ties escorting a red SUV. As the convoy approached a venue packed with people, the Fire Service chief disembarked. He was met by enthusiastic locals who had gathered for a thanksgiving event to honour his appointment, which took place in July 2025.
Following the video's release, many Nigerians took to social media platforms to express their disapproval. A common sentiment expressed was condemnation of the large convoy, with critics highlighting the perceived extravagance when numerous fire stations nationwide are reportedly struggling with a shortage of functional operational vehicles.
