A public disagreement has surfaced on X between popular On-Air Personality (OAP) Dotun and acclaimed movie producer Jade Osiberu concerning OAP Roby Ekpo's decision to discuss his marital challenges on a podcast.
The controversy ignited after Jade Osiberu publicly questioned the judgment of Roby Ekpo's friends, suggesting they failed him by allowing him to appear on a podcast during a vulnerable period to detail his marital breakdown.
In a widely circulated interview, Roby Ekpo was seen becoming emotional as he recounted the dissolution of his marriage to Mayowa and what he described as endured hardships.
Similar to Osiberu's viewpoint, a segment of the public felt that Ekpo should not have shared such personal pain publicly.
Osiberu expressed her concerns via a post on her X account, stating that Ekpo's friends were not acting in his best interest. She opined that Ekpo intended to portray himself as the wronged party in the interview, but this strategy she believed, did not succeed. Osiberu argued for the right of individuals, regardless of gender, to share their stories, but cautioned against exploiting such narratives for personal gain by "exploitative podcasters" who, in her view, profit from guests' pain without considering their mental well-being.
OAP Dotun, identifying himself as a friend to Roby Ekpo, responded to Osiberu's comments. He suggested that instead of criticizing Ekpo's choice, Osiberu could have offered alternative constructive solutions.
Osiberu countered Dotun's remarks by advising him that he too needed to heal, accusing him of projecting his own biases. She concluded by offering prayers for Dotun and any "demons" he might be contending with.
The exchange escalated, leading to a more confrontational tone between Dotun and Osiberu.
The conversation between the two public figures unfolded as follows:
