The Ogun State Government has reiterated its commitment to a no-tolerance policy against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), child abuse, and various forms of exploitation, stating that 2026 will see enhanced law enforcement, coordinated prosecutions, and strict accountability for offenders.

This declaration was made by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, during the 3-in-1 New Year Program held at the Valleyview Auditorium in Abeokuta.

Reflecting on last year's progress, the Commissioner credited the Ministry's achievements to a dedicated leadership approach, strong political resolve, and a well-defined reform agenda.

Adeleye stressed that the Ministry's objectives for 2026 would focus heavily on results-oriented governance, service delivery centered around citizens, and collaboration between different agencies.

“With support from security forces, justice institutions, and whistleblowers, 2026 will be a challenging year for those involved in Gender-Based Violence, child abuse, and all other exploitative acts,” she asserted.

“We will execute the law impartially, ensure the protection of survivors, and commit to exposing and prosecuting every violator,” Adeleye promised.

The Commissioner also acknowledged valuable contributions from various partners, including UNFPA, OGSTEP, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), mentioning that their collaboration has extended beyond financial assistance to include offering technical expertise, innovating policies, strengthening institutions, and providing capacity-building opportunities for personnel.

Adeleye concluded by highlighting that awards were presented to outstanding staff members for their remarkable performance in promoting the Ministry's mandate. Honorees included Oyesanya Matthew, recognized as Most Punctual (Junior Category); Rufai for Most Punctual (Senior Category); Rosiji Omobolaji for Best Dressed (Senior Category); Folorunso Lukmon for Most Hardworking (Senior Category); and Mamadidola Kabiru, who was named Most Hardworking (Junior Category).
