Under its “We Are Equal” campaign, OAFLAD promotes gender equality, women's economic empowerment, and access to education throughout Africa.

During the assembly, First Ladies emphasized the necessity for enhanced cooperation among African nations to address the challenges facing women and children, particularly in areas affected by conflict.

Among those present were Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, Chairperson of OAFLAD and First Lady of Sierra Leone, and Lordina Mahama, the First Lady of Ghana, both of whom commended Mrs. Tinubu’s support for initiatives aimed at benefiting women.

Dr. Bio pointed out the connection between sustainable development and peace, arguing that women’s rights cannot flourish in unstable conditions.

The First Lady of Ghana stressed the critical need to invest in girl-child education and to empower women artisans to create sustainable livelihoods across the continent.
