A 26-year-old woman identified as Abisoye Funmilayo has been formally charged at a Chief Magistrate’s Court situated in Akure, the capital of Ondo State. The charges brought against her involve allegations of intimidation, stalking, making threats to life, and engaging in conduct that could disrupt public peace.
During her arraignment on Thursday, the defendant faced several counts, cited as contravening and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, of the Laws of Ondo State, Nigeria, 2006.
The charge sheet outlines that Abisoye Funmilayo, along with others who are currently at large, allegedly engaged in actions between January 11 and January 18, 2026. These alleged activities took place at an address in Ikorodu, Lagos State, and also within the jurisdiction of Ondo State. The accusations state that they intimidated and threatened to kill a woman named Babalola Bose and her children. This specific act is said to be an offence punishable under Section 19 of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of Ondo State, 2020.
In a separate charge, the defendant is accused of publishing photographs of Babalola Bose and her children on a TikTok account. Crucially, these images were reportedly shared with a "Rest in Peace" inscription, despite the individuals being alive. This action is considered an offence punishable under Section 18 of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of Ondo State, 2020.
Presenting the case, the police prosecutor, Inspector Akolade Bakare, informed the court of the need for an adjournment to allow for the assembly of his witnesses.
Following the submissions from both sides, the presiding Magistrate, Odenusi- Fadeyi Otateju, granted the defendant bail. The bail conditions include a sum of N500,000 and the provision of two sureties, who must also meet the same bail sum.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for February 12, 2026, to continue proceedings on the matter.
