Ossai Ovie Success, a representative of the Delta State governor, has urged the public to refrain from criticizing actress and evangelist Tonto Dikeh over her recent video. In the footage, she conducted a deliverance session for a young girl at a school in Abuja.
The video captured Dikeh praying over the student, who was seen on the ground as she attempted to expel demons from her. The clip has drawn significant backlash from the Nigerian public, with many claiming it amounted to child abuse, and calls for her arrest surfaced.
In response to the criticisms, Ossai defended Dikeh, expressing his belief that there is nothing inherently wrong with her actions unless they are under false pretenses.
He stated, "Nothing is wrong with Tonto Dikeh performing deliverance except it’s under pretense. If the deliverance is orchestrated by the Holy Spirit, then I would not be disappointed because the Holy Spirit can lead one to perform deliverance at any time and place—one does not control this.
"I would be distressed if she were pretending, and indeed, God will judge her. I am profoundly disappointed," he added.
The public response to Dikeh’s video remains mixed, as some continue to voice their concerns about the implications of her actions on social media.
