Political leaders and stakeholders in Osun State have inaugurated 10,000 grassroots canvassers under the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to secure massive electoral support for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. The event featured cross-party representation and a donation of 30 operational vehicles by Niger Delta businessman Government Ekpemupolo.

Political leaders and stakeholders in Osun State have inaugurated 10,000 grassroots canvassers under the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to secure massive electoral support for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. The event, held at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo, brought together prominent figures across various political divides, alongside a substantial donation of operational vehicles to drive the campaign.

Key figures at the inauguration included Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola. The initiative aims to galvanize nationwide grassroots support, with organizers setting an ambitious target of securing up to 90 percent of the total votes cast in the state during the upcoming presidential poll.

Why was the grassroots movement launched?

The mobilization campaign is designed to take President Tinubu's re-election message directly to households across Nigeria. Promoters of the initiative emphasized that grassroots engagement is critical to driving voter awareness and highlighting the administration's policy achievements ahead of the 2027 polls.

Governor Adeleke, represented by his deputy Kola Adewusi, urged members of the Accord Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and other political groups to set aside partisan differences and throw their weight behind the President's second-term ambition. This cross-party appeal was echoed by Senator Basiru, who outlined several key achievements of the current administration, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), infrastructural upgrades, and increased fiscal allocations to state and local governments.

What support was provided for the campaign?

To facilitate seamless grassroots penetration, Niger Delta stakeholder High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo, donated 30 vehicles equipped with public address systems, generators, and sound amplifiers. Representing Tompolo at the event, Dr. Kestin Pondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, noted that the donation was intended to bolster logistics and enable campaigners to reach remote communities.

"The movement believes in the reform agenda of the administration, and these vehicles are provided to ensure effective mobilization across all wards and settlements," Pondi stated.

Former Osun Governor Oyetola, represented by the 2026 APC governorship candidate in the state, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, commended the logistics support and challenged party faithful to remain united. He urged the newly inaugurated canvassers to avoid complacency and hypocrisy, stressing that absolute sincerity is required to achieve the projected 1.5 million votes for the President in Osun.

How are organizers addressing voter participation?

Comrade Sunday Adekanbi, the National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, stressed the importance of civic participation, urging eligible citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). Meanwhile, the Osun State Coordinator of the movement, Ambassador Adeolu Olanrewaju, assured the national leadership that local chapters are fully prepared to execute a house- to-house campaign strategy across the region.
