Over 250 table tennis contestants are set to participate in the 6th Michael and Felicia Alabi memorial table tennis tournament, which is scheduled to occur from April 12 to April 17, 2026, in Osun.
This event is backed by both the Nigerian Table Tennis Federation and the Osun State Table Tennis Association and is organized to honor the late Michael and Felicia Alabi.
As indicated by the event organizers, this year's tournament aims to provide the most significant platform yet for more than 250 competitors hailing from all 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It was further mentioned that both emerging talents and established veterans, along with para-athletes and athletes with hearing impairments, will compete, highlighting the tournament's commitment to inclusivity and equal chances for all participants.
The competition will feature various categories ranging from under-15 singles to veterans and para-athletes, allowing every competitor the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and dedication.
Organizers expect the tournament to attract coaches, scouts, officials, and sports fans nationwide, reinforcing its status as a hub for identifying and nurturing Nigerian table tennis talent.
For six days, Otan Ayegbaju will not only enhance its sporting status but will also see an increase in economic activities as local hotels, businesses, and transportation services prepare to host visitors during this week-long event.
Most importantly, the youth in the host community will have the chance to observe high-level competitive matches, an experience that could ignite aspirations and motivate the next generation of table tennis stars, as stated by the organizers.
