Military forces operating under Sector 2 of Operation Enduring Peace have eliminated three suspected terrorists during an ambush near Karem village, located in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. The successful operation took place on the evening of April 2, 2026, following the reception of precise intelligence regarding the movement of armed individuals on three motorcycles towards the community.
Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, provided details of the developments in a statement issued on April 3.
Furthermore, in Dutse Uku, within Jos North Local Government Area, the troops apprehended two men who were allegedly impersonating security operatives. These individuals were reportedly caught in the act of setting fire to residential buildings.
The statement from the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace highlighted the significant success in restoring peace to Plateau State, noting the interception and arrest of the two suspects masquerading as security agents around 11:45 p.m. in the Dutse Uku area, following a distress call about sporadic shooting.
These impostors, reportedly clad in tactical black uniforms, were apprehended while actively involved in the destruction of homes by fire and inciting violence within the community. Two individuals sustained gunshot wounds during the incident and were transported to a medical facility by the troops for treatment; they are reported to be in stable condition.
This arrest directly contradicts recent claims suggesting the military's involvement in the unrest experienced in Jos North, indicating instead that criminal elements are perpetrating these acts while using deceptive attire to cause confusion and tarnish the reputation of the Armed Forces.
The operational tempo continued into Karem in Wase Local Government Area, where alert troops intercepted a large group of terrorists travelling on motorcycles. The insurgents reportedly dispersed under sustained military engagement.
During the confrontation, three terrorists were neutralised. This heightened operational effectiveness is attributed to the deployment of an additional battalion and specialised counter-terrorism troops, an initiative ordered by the Chief of Army Staff on Thursday morning.
