During a recent presidential dialogue, John Mahama, the President of Ghana, conveyed that LGBTQ+ related matters are not currently among the country's most pressing concerns. He asserted that Ghana is still navigating more vital national issues.

Mahama pointed out that the government’s focus should be on providing essential services like education, healthcare, employment opportunities, food, clothing, and shelter to its citizens.

The President reiterated that Ghana's stance is shaped by its constitutional framework and democratic values, calling for constructive dialogue and respect for diverse perspectives.

Mahama also noted the international community's varied responses to Ghana's position, including concerns raised by global partners, as well as recent events such as the revocation of an honorary degree from Lincoln University. He emphasized that these developments underscore the importance of maintaining dialogue and mutual understanding.
