Rivers APC Target 2.3 Million Votes For Tinubu, Says Yari

Former Zamfara governor Abdulaziz Yari has challenged the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State to deliver at least 2.3 million votes for President Bola Tinubu. Speaking at a Port Harcourt rally, Yari highlighted collection rates for Permanent Voter Cards as the basis for the ambitious target.

Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has challenged party stakeholders in Rivers State to secure a minimum of 2.3 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in an upcoming election. Addressing supporters during a high-profile rally held in Port Harcourt on a Saturday, Yari emphasized that aggressive grassroots mobilization would make the ambitious goal achievable.

Providing a breakdown of the voter statistics, Yari noted that the figures were derived from official data supplied by coalition leaders within the South-South state. He pointed out that out of roughly 3.3 million registered electors and about 2.8 million collected Permanent Voter Cards, targeting 2.3 million valid ballots was entirely realistic. He further informed the President that the chapter aimed to deliver at least an 80 percent success rate from the region.

During the event, Yari also criticized prominent opposition figures, questioning their past administrative records while in public office. The gathering also featured remarks from Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who recalled that Rivers was the sole South-South state won decisively by the ruling party during the 2023 polls, expressing confidence that the electorate would replicate the outcome.

National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, echoed similar sentiments, praising the joint ticket of Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as the most capable leadership option for the nation. Meanwhile, Senator Magnus Abe, representing local stakeholders, spoke in defense of the Rainbow Coalition, asserting that despite varied backgrounds among its members, their primary objective remains ensuring the re-election of the presidency.
