Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has categorically denied any endorsement of African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidates for the bye- election slated for February 21, 2026. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled this election to fill two vacant positions in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) recently concluded its primary elections, leading to the emergence of Napoleon Ukalikpen and Bulabari Henrietta Loolo as the party's flagbearers for Ahoada East State Constituency II and Khana State Constituency II, respectively. Both candidates are recognized as allies of the former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Speculation had arisen among political observers, suggesting that due to the candidates' affiliation with Wike, Governor Fubara might be inclined to support ADC candidates rather than those of his own party, the APC. However, Governor Fubara vehemently dismissed these assertions, labeling them as "blatant lies from the pit of hell." He suggested that such rumours were deliberately spread to sow discord within the APC in Rivers State.

"The APC in Rivers State is one family. What happened was that in the build-up to the primaries, the President (Bola Tinubu) intervened and asked everyone to support the candidates of the former Governor and Minister of the FCT (Nyesom Wike) for peace to reign," Fubara explained. He questioned the logic behind the claims, stating, "So if these candidates are members of the APC and we are all members of the same party, how can I be supporting the candidates of another political party? These are blatant lies from the pit of hell."

Fubara expressed disappointment that political adversaries continue to foster division, even in the absence of any actual rift. He assured APC members in Rivers State of his unwavering support for the party and his determination to ensure its electoral success.

Furthermore, Governor Fubara urged the residents of Rivers State to remain focused on developmental issues and not be misled by unsubstantiated claims. The report was filed by Emmanuel Addeh.
