Governor Siminalayi Fubara has announced that the 33.5-kilometer Elele–Umudioga–Egbeda–Ubimini–Ikiri–Omoku dual carriageway is close to completion, with an inauguration scheduled for early May.

During an inspection of the project on Wednesday, the governor indicated that the road construction, which has an estimated budget of N80.8 billion, is approximately 90% finished and is on track for completion by the end of April.

"From my assessment, about 90 percent of the job is already done, and what remains will be completed before the end of April. I am very pleased because this is not just a road but a signature project of our administration. It serves as a crucial corridor connecting the Ikwerre, Emohua and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas," stated Governor Fubara.

The project, which connects Ikwerre, Emohua, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government areas, was awarded to Craneburg Construction Company, with a 24-month timeline for completion.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the speed of construction, declaring the road as a landmark achievement for his administration. He emphasized that the project represents not only infrastructure development but also progress and effective governance.

Additionally, he underscored its economic and security significance, noting that the road serves as a critical link to Omoku, a major gas production area, which will boost local business activities considerably.

He recalled that the corridor was previously infamous for incidents of kidnapping and armed robbery, but the ongoing construction has positively changed the security situation in the area.

Fubara also emphasized that improved access will allow security personnel to respond to emergencies more swiftly, effectively reducing criminal activities that once affected the route.

The governor commended the contractor for meeting project deadlines and expressed confidence that the road will be completed soon for public use.
