Confirming the incident, the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) communicated with PREMIUM TIMES about the attack.

Dalyop Mwantiri, the leader of the association, described the assault as heinous and barbaric.

In a statement disseminated to the press in Jos, signed by Rwang Tengwong, the BYM’s National Publicity Secretary, the association emphasized that the victims were "peace-loving youths who were engaged in legitimate economic activities" and whose lives were "cruelly snuffed out".

Efforts to reach Alfred Abbo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Plateau State, for immediate comments were unsuccessful as he was unresponsive to calls at the time of this report.

The statement from BYM expressed heartfelt condolences to the grieving families, wishing them divine comfort, strength, and fortitude during this devastating time.

Furthermore, the organization has called upon both state and federal authorities, as well as security agencies, to ensure that the attackers and their benefactors are brought to justice. Additionally, they urged the enhancement of security measures in vulnerable rural regions, mining sites, and access routes.

“The ongoing massacre of innocent youths cannot continue unchecked,” the statement asserted.

The group also recommended that authorities intensify intelligence operations, deploy sufficient security personnel, and implement community-based security strategies to avert further tragedies.
