Shettima and Zulum Attend Eid-el-Fitr Prayers in Maiduguri

Vice President Kashim Shettima and Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, participated in Eid-el-Fitr prayers alongside thousands of Muslim faithful in Maiduguri on Friday, marking the close of the holy month of Ramadan.

They were joined by the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, as they gathered at the central Eid ground for the prayers.

Following the completion of the two raka’at prayer, the Imam Eidain of Borno, Shettima Mamman Saleh, delivered a sermon highlighting the importance of maintaining the values celebrated during Ramadan and encouraging peaceful coexistence.

In remarks to reporters after the prayers, Vice President Shettima expressed his belief that initiatives taken by both the federal and state governments would lead to improved security across the nation.

He urged for unity among Nigerians, suggesting that the convergence of Ramadan and Lent could serve as a time for reflection and a call for national renewal.

The Vice President stressed that progress at the national level hinges on peace, urging citizens to collaborate in confronting widespread issues such as insecurity and development challenges.

He also acknowledged the resilience of the people of Borno State and their ongoing dedication to fostering peace and development within the region.

Prominent figures present during the Eid prayers also included Borno's Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur; the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman for the North, Ali Bukar Dalori; Senator Ali Ndume; and Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan, SAN.

Other attendees comprised members of both the National and State Assemblies, in addition to the Secretary to the Borno State Government, Hon. Bukar Tijjani.
