Student Passes Away Following Alleged Bullying in Yobe School

A student of the Government Science and Technical College in Potiskum, Yobe State, has died after reportedly being bullied by classmates. The incident has prompted an investigation by local police.

A Senior Secondary School (SS3) student at the Government Science and Technical College (GSTC) in Potiskum, Yobe State, has tragically lost his life following an alleged bullying incident involving his peers.

Reports indicate that the event took place on Sunday, during which the deceased suffered an attack from several classmates under circumstances that are still being clarified.

The student was buried on the same day in his hometown of Gadaka, located in the Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with Daily Trust, stating that an investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.

"Yes, we are aware of the incident," Abdulkarim remarked. "An investigation is currently ongoing to establish what led to the student's demise."

A teacher at the school, who requested anonymity, revealed that some students believed to be involved in the incident have been turned over to law enforcement for further investigation.

"The school authorities have handed over the suspected students to the police, and the investigation is currently ongoing," the source disclosed.

When approached for comment, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Yobe, Prof. Abba Idriss Adam, promised to return the call to our reporter.
