In a heartbreaking incident, three sisters aged 16, 14, and 12 took their lives by jumping from the ninth floor of their apartment in Ghaziabad, India, late one night.
Authorities suspect that their alleged addiction to a Korean gaming application played a role in this tragic event.
Sources reveal that Nishika, Prachi, and Pakhi were said to be heavily engaged in a task-based online game from Korea. Their parents had previously cautioned them about their excessive gaming habits and recently prohibited them from using the app.
Believed to have reached a devastating conclusion, the sisters left their bedroom silently in the early hours of Wednesday, February 4, and approached the window of the temple room in their apartment. Utilizing a chair placed nearby, they reportedly climbed up and jumped sequentially into the darkness below.
The incident, which took place around 2:15 AM at Bharat City Society, located under the jurisdiction of the Tila Mod police station in Loni, prompted a swift police response. Their parents discovered a handwritten note attached to a glass panel, which was titled “True Life Story” and featured a sad emoji.
The note, mixing Hindi and English, conveyed: “Is diari me jo kuch bhi likha hai wo sab padh lo kyunki ye sab sach hai.” It concluded with an apology saying, “Read now!!! I’m really sorry. Sorry papa.”
The sisters had become so immersed in their gaming that they had started referring to each other by Korean names.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Atul Kumar Singh stated that emergency services were alerted around 2:15 AM regarding the fall of three girls from a ninth-floor residence. Upon arrival, they confirmed the deaths of Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12), who were the daughters of Chetan Kumar. The victims were transported to a local hospital in Loni, where doctors declared them deceased.
Investigators discovered that the three sisters had not attended school since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Remarkably, despite being 16, the eldest was only enrolled in Class 4, reflecting significant educational interruption and social isolation.
Authorities have now sent the bodies for autopsy and are examining the handwritten note and the diary it referenced, including any digital evidence related to the gaming application.
Investigators emphasized that all factors, such as online activity, family conditions, and mental health, are under scrutiny as part of their ongoing investigation.
