Amas Obasogie, the goalkeeper for the Super Eagles, has received a three-month suspension from Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars SC due to ongoing investigations into match-fixing allegations.
The club's Disciplinary Committee announced the suspension on Friday via a statement posted on their official X account, noting that this measure is intended to facilitate a thorough examination of the claims made against Obasogie.
In addition, the statement revealed that fellow player Khalid Aucho has also been suspended for the same duration as a result of disciplinary issues and lack of attendance.
"The leadership of Singida Black Stars SC, through the Disciplinary Committee, has acted against players Khalid Aucho and Amas Obasogie," the statement indicated.
According to the announcement, "Amas Obasogie: Suspended for three months to allow investigation into match-fixing allegations."
It further detailed that, "Khalid Aucho: Suspended for three months due to indiscipline and absence from duty."
The club underscored the importance of discipline, accountability, and adherence to club values among players and staff.
Obasogie has been a key figure for Singida in the Tanzanian Premier League, joining the team in recent seasons and gaining recognition for his goalkeeping prowess.
While the specifics of the alleged match-fixing remain undisclosed, both the club and Tanzanian football authorities have not revealed any particular matches or events under scrutiny, and no formal charges are currently in place.
