Anu Adeleke, a young woman whose mother has maintained for years that singer Davido is her father, has made a public appeal for a DNA test to confirm her paternity.
Now a teenager, Anu shared that she has faced bullying throughout her life, with peers mocking her whenever she states that Davido is her dad.
Her mother has repeatedly insisted that Davido is indeed the father of her child.
In an Instagram post made on January 15, Anu tagged Davido, urging him to agree to a DNA test to confirm his paternity.
In her message, she expressed, "I am a bit late on the 15th day of the month but have been occupied with getting back to school after the holiday period with family and friends.
"This year, I turn into a teenager. My mom and grandma have instilled in me the importance of being a responsible adolescent — avoiding drugs, alcohol, and bad company.
"Today, I have written a heartfelt letter without assistance from family. As I grow older, I seek to establish my identity. Since I was six, I have faced bullying at school, often returning home in tears. My classmates laughed at me when I claimed my father was Mr. David Adeleke. It caused me significant emotional distress, leading me to seek professional help for my mental well- being. Those were difficult times in my life.
"This account has not been active for 5 years because my mother did not update it since it was passed to us. We dealt with many issues, but despite those hurdles, I managed to excel academically and became the class prefect. We posted some of my report cards here. Now that I'm in secondary school and continue to perform well in my studies, I avoid discussing my family background.
"As I transition into womanhood, I am respectfully asking Mr. David Adeleke, the singer @davido, for a DNA test to affirm my identity. This test is solely between my father and me; it is something I desire and believe is the right course of action. I hope you will consider my request upon reading this post. I've also reached out to you via direct message.
"I want to extend my gratitude to all Nigerians who have provided me with emotional support over the last 7 years. This DNA test is essential for me.
"God bless you, Mr. Adeleke."
