A young substitute teacher in the United States has been taken into custody and faces charges following allegations of making online threats about a potential violent incident at a school. Hadyn Dollery, aged 19, was arrested after authorities received information about disturbing messages posted on the Discord platform that specifically mentioned John Champe High School, situated near Washington D.C.
According to law enforcement, the suspect is said to have communicated intentions of violence and mentioned possessing a "kill list," which raised significant alarm among officials. Investigators highlighted that a crucial tip from a member of the public was instrumental in identifying and apprehending Dollery.
Dollery, who had been employed as an unlicensed substitute teacher during the 2025–26 academic year, was reportedly apprehended while on the premises of the school. Following this arrest, the individual has been removed from the substitute teaching roster maintained by the school district.
Law enforcement agencies have confirmed that the suspect has been formally charged with making threats of bodily harm. Currently, Dollery is being held without bail at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
A court appearance has been scheduled for May 26. While authorities have not released extensive details concerning the alleged plan, the incident has reignited discussions about the risks posed by online threats, the critical importance of school security, and the necessity of promptly reporting suspicious behaviour.
