During a recent viral livestream, Nigerian entertainer Tonto Dikeh discussed a significant aspect of her life, detailing a time when she almost took up the pastoral mantle at the age of 19. This discussion arose just days after she announced her reconciliation with her ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill, as they have decided to co-parent their son, King Andre.
Dikeh mentioned, "I have always felt this calling since I was a child. I was on the verge of becoming a pastor at 19, but for some reason, I shied away from it. I have been involved in church activities since completing high school and have maintained a close relationship with God throughout my life. This calling has always been present."
Reflecting on her journey, she stated, "What has transpired in my life is extraordinary. Many who have faced similar challenges might not have survived. I believe my experiences were divinely intended to prepare me for the purpose God has for me."
She emphasized that no one can belittle God's calling, affirming that those chosen can never fully escape their destiny. Explaining why she distanced herself from the pastoral calling at such a young age, she admitted, "I felt the need to explore various life experiences, which I believed were essential before committing to that role."
Expressing gratitude for her spiritual journey, Dikeh shared, "What could deter me from God's presence now? I have experienced everything. In the past, my early return to Christ was not due to a lack of desire to commit, but rather because I had not yet encountered certain life experiences. Pain, particularly, often made me retreat from God, as serving Him with sincerity sometimes felt burdensome."
She continued, "I have come to understand that God’s promises do not include a life devoid of challenges. He assures us of His presence through difficulties, and I am now firm in my commitment to His path."
Dikeh then spoke about her true calling, which she described as rooted in prayer and healing. "God has instructed me to pray for people online, and that is exactly what I intend to do. I view myself merely as a vessel in His plan."
She also revealed plans to create an online prayer platform pending divine confirmation, stating, "I believe anyone can partake in this ministry if they follow God's call. My focus is not about financial gain; I am already comfortable in that aspect."
In recounting her transformative experiences, Dikeh disclosed that her turn to faith was not about seeking fame but rather a quest for a renewed life, saying, "I wanted to align with God's mandate for me."
In December 2025, Dikeh publicly testified about how God liberated her from various personal struggles, including previous habits related to smoking and alcohol, revealing her past battles and the spiritual healing she received. Dikeh's rise to prominence in the Nigerian film industry remains notable, with performances in films like 'Dirty Secret,' 'Night Wedding,' and 'Divine Grace.'
