Joint forces operating under the banner of Operation UDO KA have successfully overrun a suspected stronghold of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Mother Valley, situated in the Orsu area of Imo State, following a well-coordinated ground offensive.

According to a reliable source from the Army Headquarters, the operation commenced at approximately 7 a.m. on February 26, involving the military, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Troops trekked for about three hours across challenging and restricted terrain to access the valley where the stronghold was located.

The source reported that the security forces faced significant resistance from members of ESN/IPOB, who utilized locally manufactured Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and heavy gunfire to defend their position.

Despite the intense opposition, the troops exhibited resilience and professionalism, eventually overpowering the insurgents and breaching their defenses.

As a result of the operation, one suspected member of IPOB was neutralized, while several others are believed to have fled with gunshot injuries.

Items seized during the raid included two pump-action shotguns, one home-made firearm, one tear gas gun, and seven gas cylinders. Other items retrieved were an electric kettle, a Biafran flag, a United States flag, and an Israeli flag.

Additionally, the military cleared vital infrastructure at the camp, which comprised solar panels and a Mikano generator. An ambush unit also detained two suspects linked to the IPOB during the operation.

One suspect was captured while allegedly trying to plant an IED, while the other was apprehended on suspicion of observing troop movements into the area.

The detained individuals are currently being held by the 34 Military Intelligence for further profiling and investigation.

Furthermore, the troops recovered a Kia saloon car and a black Toyota Sequoia SUV from a parking area located in another sector of the valley, with arrangements underway to transport these vehicles to the Forward Operating Base in Orsu.
