Lagos Bus Services Limited has officially charged two of its bus drivers over claims of stealing fuel.
The company’s Managing Director and CEO, Idowu Oguntona, reported that the incident transpired on March 10, 2026, after it was brought to their notice through a video shared by a concerned member of the public.
A statement from the agency’s spokesperson, Afolabi Olawale, indicated that the suspects were identified, arrested, and subsequently transferred to security personnel for further inquiries.
The statement elaborated that the two employees were later presented to the Lagos Mobile Court on March 12. Following their court appearance, they were ordered to be held at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre as they await the next hearing set for April 22.
Emphasizing the organization's zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct, Oguntona affirmed their dedication to maintaining transparency and accountability within their operations. He stated, “We firmly reject any actions that undermine the confidence placed in our teams and the resources entrusted to us by the government and the citizens of Lagos State.”
Oguntona also praised the citizen who captured and reported the incident, highlighting the vital role of public vigilance in safeguarding the integrity of the state's transportation system. He reaffirmed that any employee engaged in fraudulent activities, theft, or other severe misconduct would face stringent disciplinary measures and potential legal action.
