Agents of the Department of State Services (DSS) have detained two individuals believed to be arms couriers in Gombe State. During this operation, they seized two Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) warheads and an RPG launcher, among other items associated with bandit groups.
A reliable security source disclosed this information to the Nation on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The suspects, identified as Muhammed Alhaji Mohammed, 55, and Sani Gesha, 47, were reportedly caught at Mararaban Tula in the Kaltungo Local Government Area (LGA) while driving a grey Toyota Corolla with the registration number Taraba JAL475YQ.
According to the source, the operation was a result of covert surveillance targeting a bandit cell led by a notorious figure engaged in arms trafficking across the states of Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Adamawa.
“The operatives monitored the trafficking syndicate for over three weeks before finally initiating the operation. It was executed efficiently, leading to the apprehension of the suspects along with a significant amount of arms and ammunition,” said the source.
"Upon investigation, the suspects admitted that the shipment was supposed to be delivered to an individual named Ardo Hamma Ari, a resident of Kukawa Village in Alkaleri LGA, Bauchi State,” the source added.
