South African music sensation Tyla is set to launch a new chapter in her career, formally announcing the arrival of her second studio album, "A*POP." The record is slated for release on July 24, 2026, with the artist unveiling a visually striking trailer to mark the occasion. This cinematic preview signals a distinct new phase for Tyla, showcasing a project that aims to solidify her global sound and artistic identity.
The trailer acts as a prologue to the "APOP" era, with Tyla articulating her artistic growth and confidence. She describes the album as a reflection of her current mindset, where she feels more grounded and certain about her creative path. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Tyla shared that while her initial album felt like a rapid ascent, she now possesses a clearer vision for her message. This evolution is reflected in the ambitious 19-track lineup of "APOP," which she also mentioned to i-D Magazine as a genuine representation of her present life and creative journey, moving past the initial pressures of a debut to embrace a more organic sound.
This upcoming release follows a period of significant acclaim for the artist, marked by a string of notable achievements. Her 2024 self-titled debut album provided the breakthrough for her hit single "Water," which secured her the inaugural Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance. Demonstrating sustained success, she repeated her win in the same category in February 2026 for "Push 2 Start," making her the first artist to achieve this feat twice and the youngest African artist to hold two Grammy Awards.
Although the complete tracklist for "A*POP" has not yet been revealed, the album already includes certain anticipated songs. "Chanel," initially featured on her 2025 mixtape "WWP," is expected to be on the album. Additionally, her recent collaboration with Zara Larsson, "She Did It Again," showcases a sound influenced by early 2000s pop. Reports also suggest a potential collaboration with Nigerian artist Wizkid, titled "Dynamite," further underscoring Tyla's ambition to connect across diverse musical landscapes.
To commemorate the album's release, Tyla is scheduled to perform as part of the TODAY Show's Citi Concert Series in New York City on the same day the album drops, promising a high-profile debut for "A*POP."
