Tyson Fury, the British heavyweight boxing champion, is set to come out of retirement for a match against the Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11.
The highly anticipated fight will occur in the United Kingdom and will be broadcasted live globally on Netflix, marking a noteworthy milestone as the platform's inaugural live sports event from the UK.
Having not competed since his latest retirement, this will be Fury's first fight in his home country in nearly four years.
The return of Fury was confirmed by Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia and president of the Saudi Boxing Federation. He expressed delight at Fury's decision to re-enter the boxing world.
"We are pleased that Tyson has chosen to come out of retirement for what promises to be an exciting heavyweight encounter against Makhmudov," stated Alalshikh.
Gabe Spitzer, Netflix's vice president of sports, praised Fury as one of modern boxing's most intriguing personalities and expressed enthusiasm about featuring his return.
At 36 years old, Fury has an impressive professional record of 34 victories, 2 defeats, and 1 draw, including 24 wins by knockout. His two losses were incurred against Oleksandr Usyk.
Makhmudov, on the other hand, is known for his powerful striking ability, having achieved knockout victories over 19 of his 21 opponents, making him a prominent threat in the heavyweight division.
