Governor Uba Sani has initiated an environmental program designed to enhance sanitation efforts while creating job opportunities for 5,000 youths and women within Kaduna State.

At the unveiling of the initiative, termed Operation TSAFTA, on Thursday, the Governor indicated that an additional 7,000 jobs would be made available in the upcoming months.

Uba Sani revealed that the government has acquired vital equipment for the program, including Roro bins, dustbins, water tankers, and necessary personal protective gear.

"These assets are aimed at improving operational effectiveness, ensuring worker safety, and conducting sanitation tasks with a level of professionalism and sustainability," he further explained.

The Governor mentioned that the initial implementation of Operation TSAFTA would concentrate on four Local Government Areas currently facing significant environmental challenges due to rapid urbanization, increased commercial activities, and high population density.

He noted, "The insights gained from this initial phase will assist in expanding the program to the remaining local governments at an appropriate time."

The initiative is described as a proactive measure that addresses the environmental strains resulting from urban and economic growth, reflecting the administration's determination to tackle these issues systematically.

He articulated that a clean and well-managed environment is essential for human health, economic productivity, and societal stability.

"Operation TSAFTA is not just a standalone project but part of a larger strategy to incorporate environmental accountability into governance and everyday life throughout both urban and rural regions in Kaduna State," he added.

The Governor applauded the cooperation among the 23 Local Government Councils, the Ministry for Local Government Affairs, and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, stating that effective governance relies on collaborative efforts among institutions. He emphasized how Operation TSAFTA illustrates the potential outcomes achievable through united endeavors directed towards a shared goal.

This initiative opens doors for women and the youth to engage meaningfully in productive work, directly contributing to environmental cleanliness and community health.

"By connecting environmental management with employment opportunities, we are nurturing a sense of responsibility and promoting the notion that safeguarding the environment is a collective civic obligation," he stated.

Additionally, the program aligns with the Governor's broader aim of fostering youth participation and skills enhancement in governance.

He announced that the initiative emphasizes the role of the private sector in environmental management, aiming to enhance efficiency, professionalism, and accountability in sanitation services through partnerships with private service providers and cleaning firms.

"These collaborations are crucial to developing a resilient environmental management framework capable of adapting to rising demands and fluctuating conditions," he underlined.

Governor Uba Sani highlighted that the outcomes of their collaborative efforts are already being recognized, as Kaduna State has recently been acknowledged as one of the environmentally aware states in the federation.

"This advancement stands as a testament to clear policy measures, institutional reforms, and the active participation of citizens who recognize the importance of maintaining a clean and organized environment," he concluded.
