Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has committed to enhancing infrastructure in Kuje Area Council.

Wike made this announcement during a meeting with stakeholders in Kuje, coinciding with the recent results of the FCT area council elections held on February 21.

This promise emerged after the chairman-elect, Danjuma Shekwolo, urged Wike to prioritize three important road projects.

In response, Wike expressed his willingness to collaborate with the chairman- elect and local traditional leaders to determine which projects should be initiated first.

"Your chairman-elect proposed two or three road projects. I assure you that as soon as he is sworn in this June, I will convene a meeting with him and the traditional rulers to select the initial project to undertake," Wike stated. "I have a strong interest in Kuje; the residents of Kuje have supported us, and we will reciprocate that support."

He also recalled a town hall meeting from 2023, where community members requested the completion of the Airport Road leading to Kuje, a project that was commissioned by the previous administration.

Additionally, Wike mentioned that locals had sought the dualization of the road from Tipper Garage to the LEA Secretariat.

“Currently, not only has the contract for the Garage Road been awarded, but it has also been completed and officially opened. I have instructed the contractor working on the Airport Road project to return to the site,” he noted.

The Minister added that the contractor had assured the FCT Administration that the road would likely be completed in time for President Tinubu's inauguration of the project during his third anniversary celebrations.

"The Kuje-Gwagwalada road, spanning approximately 16 to 17 kilometers, is also making significant progress. We are hopeful that by June this year, it too will be inaugurated by the President," Wike concluded.
