A woman from Gokwe, Zimbabwe, has initiated legal proceedings against her husband in a traditional court, alleging that he has been neglecting their intimate life, a situation she can no longer tolerate.

Irene Chipatu revealed in court that despite the couple sharing seven children, their marriage has significantly deteriorated. She explained that they have not been intimate for almost a year, attributing the struggle to her husband's erectile dysfunction.

During the session that took place on Sunday, March 8, she mentioned that her husband had undergone treatment from a traditional healer, who provided herbal remedies aimed at improving his condition. According to her, this treatment had previously been effective in facilitating a healthy marital life, resulting in the birth of seven children.

However, Chipatu expressed that the situation has declined over time. "Chief, the 'snake' just lies there like a dead log. It never rises for any occasion. Without medicine, nothing happens," she stated during the proceedings.

Additionally, Chipatu accused her husband of destroying medications intended to alleviate his issues and damaging prayer items meant to support his recovery. She articulated her feelings of frustration and emotional neglect, expressing concern that their marriage could collapse without a solution.

The case has since been forwarded to Chief Chireya, who will attempt to mediate and assist the couple in finding a resolution. They have been advised to return to the traditional court in two weeks.

Community leaders who attended the hearing encouraged open discussions about sexual-related challenges within marriages and emphasized the importance of seeking medical or traditional assistance promptly to prevent serious marital discord.
