A delegation composed of female Chief Executive Officers from critical federal agencies visited the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, on Thursday to reaffirm their support for President Bola Tinubu.

Led by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, the group included 37 women who hold influential positions within various federal agencies and parastatals.

According to a statement from Abimbola Tooki, the Special Adviser to the Chairman on Media and Communications Strategy, the visit served to highlight the women’s contributions to national growth, demonstrate unity with the APC leadership, and advocate for enhanced representation of women in political affairs.

The CEOs shared insights on their governance contributions and grassroots development, stressing the vital role women play in reinforcing the party’s support base countrywide.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Dabiri-Erewa emphasized that women have been pivotal to political mobilization in Nigeria, particularly at the grassroots level, despite often being overlooked in political appointments and structures.

The delegation pointed out that women usually encounter obstacles such as insufficient funding, lack of political backing, and underrepresentation in leadership roles, despite their commitment to the party and governance.

The female CEOs also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for affording women significant opportunities in leadership capacities within government, highlighting their appointments as a sign of growing recognition of women's roles in governance.

However, they called for greater gender parity in political appointments and within party structures to foster broader representation.

Dabiri-Erewa explained that the group has united to support one another and demonstrate the collective influence of women in governmental leadership.

She affirmed their commitment to the APC and the Tinubu administration, indicating their readiness to actively contribute to the party’s success in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

According to her, there is strong belief in the leadership capabilities of the APC National Chairman, with confidence that his inclusive and disciplined approach would further bolster the party’s unity.

Yilwatda, in response, commended the delegation for their exemplary leadership and for highlighting the contributions of Nigerian women to the governance landscape.

He congratulated them on their appointments, promising the party's support while noting the essential role women play in enhancing democratic participation and political mobilization.

The APC Chairman underscored the importance of political visibility, urging the women to engage consistently in party activities and programs.

He articulated that increased engagement and visibility would amplify women's contributions and enhance opportunities for recognition and advancement.

Yilwatda assured the delegation that the APC leadership would back initiatives aimed at encouraging women's involvement in politics and governance.

Furthermore, he noted that the names of those who attended the meeting would be included in committees formed for the upcoming APC National Convention, part of efforts to ensure wider participation of women in party functions.

He also encouraged the women to continuously promote their achievements and programs, emphasizing that showcasing their successes would help the party illustrate the efficacy of the government’s policies and strengthen engagement with the electorate.

Mobilization was reiterated as a pivotal aspect of political success, with a call for the delegation to keep connecting with women across communities throughout the country.
