Yhemolee, a notable figure in Nigeria's nightlife scene, has spoken out regarding the recent false rape allegation case, which has sparked various reactions across social media.
In an extensive statement, he described the circumstances surrounding such cases as “very unfortunate,” noting that while it is crucial to protect women from sexual assaults, it's also vital to shield men from harmful false claims.
He pointed out that baseless allegations can have devastating effects, leading to irreversible consequences for the accused, including loss of careers, reputations, and sometimes, even their lives before the truth comes to light.
Citing examples from the past, he highlighted athletes like former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy, whose careers faced serious setbacks due to allegations, illustrating how damaging mere accusations can be.
Yhemolee further warned that false allegations could inadvertently harm actual victims by instigating a demand for proof before taking genuine cases seriously.
In his post, he remarked:
“As much as we protect our women from rape, we should also protect men from false accusers too… If wrongful accusations persist, genuine victims may not be treated seriously in the future.”
He concluded with a call for equilibrium, urging society to refrain from turning sensitive matters into gender conflicts and instead concentrate on achieving justice for everyone involved.
